Stocking information
Stocking will commence from late February to prepare for the start of the season on Sat 16th March 2025.
Our stocking policy has remained the same throughout the past 8 seasons with high levels of preseason stocking and fortnightly stocking through April, May and June. This will be from a number of suppliers with a mixture of rainbows and a small amount of brown to maintain their presence in our beautiful water. We are aware that our units of fish our lower than other waters, however we do endeavour to stock larger fish of 1.5lbs plus browns and 2lbs plus rainbows. We pride ourselves in the quality of the fish stocked and the decision to stock larger fish has also helped combat damage to fish from the cormorant presence across the water.
Stocking will reduce though late July & August due to water temperature however this will be adjusted if weather conditions remain cooler and angler numbers increase above average for this time of year. Stocking always resumes with fortnightly deliveries during mid-September and October.
As you will all be aware the price of fish from the fish farms has increased once again this season. Farms and fisheries have had no choice but to increase their prices to contend with ever increasing running costs and wages. We have increased our stocking budget in line with angler numbers and fish price increases. This means that the levels of fish stocked throughout this season will match that of previous years.
Following the drought conditions during the Summer of 2022 it has been great to see the water maintain stable for over 12 months. The reservoir only dropped by 15% during the whole of the 2023 season and we open for the 2024 with levels of 100%. We are hoping that these stable levels will have maintained habitat and food levels seeing fantastic over wintered fish and stocked fish maintaining their weight over the early part of the season.
